Story
I've been living with stage 4 incurable cancer for 7.25 years and the peer support I've had in that time has been invaluable as has my ability to continue to run which has been vital to counter the awful treatment side effects.
The cancer never stopped me running but in August 2023 my knee became unbearably painful which led to a knee replacement on 1st May 2024.
I've worked incredibly hard on my rehab and my aim is to get back to running ASAP and my aim is to run 5km at Wilmslow parkrun on 30th November 2024 and raise funds to support the peer to peer support group work of Tackle Prostate Cancer at the same time.
I'm hoping that lots of our support group members will join the 'Tackle 5k: Tony's Way' challenge and join me on 30th November to raise funds for Tackle. The 30th November is also the final Saturday of the month which means it's 5K Your Way Day at nearly 100 parkruns in the UK. 5K Your Way is a superb peer to peer support group for those living with cancer so why not see if there's a 5K Your Way near you. I'm very proud to be a 5K Your Way local and regional ambassador.
