My name is Sym. I am running the London Marathon and raising money for Black Women Rising Project which is delivered through the Leanne Pero Foundation.

Black Women Rising , part of the Leanne Pero Foundation was set up when Leanne Pero found that mainstream cancer services were not inclusive enough in providing adequate support tailored to the black and ethnic community.

Leanne strongly felt that no one should suffer in silence or feel isolated when facing their cancer journey.

BWR aims is to raise awareness, educate and inspire black people going through cancer to connect with one another and share their stories without fear or shame. They do this through many projects including monthly support groups, Black Women Rising Magazine and their podcast.
