Story

My name is Harry and I am 13 years old. This summer I am swimming The English Channel in a relay with 5 other teenagers. Yes, from Dover, to France, in the actual Channel! 36km (21 miles)My training program has meant a lot of early morning swims before school which I've been doing with my mum and she has been doing some of the challenges with me. On the 9th June we did the Great North Swim in Lake Windermere. We have also just completed the 'Swim the Channel Up North' event at Boundary Park.

We hope to swim the channel around 30th July depending on the weather and the tides. I have been training for the Channel since September 2022 and as part of the preparation have navigated stinging jellyfish in Colwyn bay, long swims in Dover Harbour, ice baths, cold water swims in winter as well as lots and lots of 5:30am starts with my mum (probably even worse!)

I'm doing all this to raise money for an incredible charity Mencap. Mencap support children with a learning disability enabling them to realise their hopes and dreams. My school, Beech Hall have been swimming the Channel since 2021 and have already raised £85k which is incredible. This year the squad are hoping to surpass the £100k mark.

I would be incredibly grateful for any donation towards our target.
