Aberdeen Kiltwalk 2024 · 2 June 2024 ·
Last summer I received a call from my friend Ash to say that her sister, who was 4 months pregnant at the time, had just been diagnosed with a brain tumour. The shock and sheer fear in her voice that day was the most heart wrenching thing to hear, yet the strength and tenacity shown by her sister, and the family as a whole, was incredible to see as they navigated their way through complex surgery, a premature baby in neonatal and the subsequent radiotherapy treatment.
Not everyone has such a positive outcome and sadly brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer… yet just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease.
With that in mind, and in order to try and do something to help, a team of us (incredibly with Hannah at the helm) are taking part in the Aberdeen Kiltwalk on the 2nd June walking 18 miles to raise money for Brain Tumour Research as they are the only national charity dedicated to funding long-term, sustainable research in the UK.
I realise that there is a constant stream of fundraising requests flooding people's inboxes these days but if you can, please will you sponsor me and help get us over that finish line in Banchory and together we will raise funds for a very worthwhile cause.
Thanks a million
Suzy
