I have been volunteering for New Bridge for nearly a year supporting a prisoner.

I believe people deserve a second chance and with some support , a listening ear and being given a voice, letter writing and communicating to a volunteer can make a great difference to someone’s experience whilst in prison and help to reduce rates of reoffending.

A huge number of prisoners have had a terrible start in life suffering neglect, abuse, a lack of education and no positive role models in their upbringing leading to a lack of confidence and understanding of how to function positively in society.

With support from charities like New Bridge we can help give prisoners respect and confidence and encourage them with retraining and becoming positive contributors to society again.
