Story
On 15th September I am doing the Kiltwalk Mighty Stride event as a member of Ros Dowey's team, The Merry Bletherers. We are doing the walk in memory of Murray Dowey, Ros' 16 year old son who took his own life in December.
The Dowey family are very close friends; we met Ros and Mark at our antenatal class when Ryan and Ben were due to enter the world and two years later Murray and Maggie arrived, followed 3 years later by Evan and Elise. We've travelled a path together in life, shared experiences, stories, learned, laughed and cried. We feel very close to the Doweys and love them like family. When they lost Murray we felt utterly helpless in our ability to offer them the support they needed.
We are doing this walk for an incredible small charity which has provided support and hope to the Dowey family. Beautiful Inside and Out was set up by an inspirational mother who also tragically lost her young daughter to suicide. The charity supports other families that have lost a child, helping them in the darkest of times.
I am not fond of requesting sponsorship but I have no hesitation in requesting support for this amazing charity, it is one of the very few immediate sources of help available.
Thank you for your support, any donation however small will be gratefully received 😊
I have included Ros' words below.

Some of my fantastic friends and I are walking the Mighty Stride to raise money for an amazing wee charity, Beautiful Inside and Out (SCIO). Our family were fortunate enough to come across this charity after our son, Murray took his own life in December, and they’ve been there for us ever since.
Beautiful Inside and Out was set up by another mum, Pauline who tragically lost her beautiful 13-year-old daughter, Jenna to suicide. Pauline is a kind and strong lady who is a great source of hope and inspiration to me.
The charity provides support to families who have lost a child through suicide. They also do work around suicide prevention for young people and to heighten suicide awareness amongst educators. They work in schools and other spaces to provide young people with an outlet for expressing anxiety and depression or suicidal tendencies. Troubled young people can receive support from Beautiful Inside and Out in the form of counsellors, music, drama and art therapists.
We can never thank Pauline enough for the support that she and Beautiful Inside and Out have given me, Mark and our boys since we lost Murray.
They are a small charity, so every £1 that you are generous enough to donate makes a real difference.
Thank you. 😊
