We would like to run a charity campaign to help raise awareness of women and girl’s cricket and raise money for a charity which looks to support women’s voices and work within the sport (and women’s sport more widely).

Story

Along with many other sports, cricket has traditionally been a ‘men’s game,’ even though women have been playing the game since 1745. Many women and girls have similar stories to tell about feeling excluded or receiving less opportunities and support than their male equivalents. Slowly, times are changing and charities like Take Her Lead are actively trying to make cricket an inclusive, fun environment for everyone, regardless of gender.

Even today members of our club have struggled to feel accepted within the sport, with multiple members being the first girl at their local club or being the founders of their local women’s teams. While this is improving across the country we are hoping to do as much as we can to help cricket continue to be inclusive and supportive for women and girls both at our university and in the local area
