Susie's Avon Gorge abseil for FareShare South West

Abseil down Avon Gorge · 5 October 2024
Wait. Susie, person who is terrified of heights, is doing an abseil?!
Yep. Here's why: right now, more than 1 million people in the south west are living in poverty. Meanwhile, 4.6 million tonnes of quality, edible food – enough for more than 10 billion meals – is wasted every year across the UK food industry, causing irreparable climate damage. FareShare South West rescues that food and shares it with charities, school breakfast clubs and community hubs, bringing dignity, health and routes out of poverty.
Why FareShare South West? This is where I work! Four days a week I have the privilege to work with an incredible, dedicated team who couldn't work harder - and to hear the stories of the people whose lives and futures are transformed by access to healthy food. Over 50% of what we send out is fresh veg, fruit and dairy.
Why £548? That's enough to get food for 3 meals a day to TWO PEOPLE living with food poverty. Every £1 you donate means food for 4 meals - so whatever you can give will make a real difference.
