Story
Sadly, like so many women I know, I have my own experiences with domestic abuse, emotional abuse and coercive control. The walking will provide an opportunity to feel like I’m doing something to help other women. I know some might think it’s just walking but it will be a challenge for me. I have complex PTSD, in part due to having suffered domestic violence, it means I can go through spells of spending a lot of time indoors due to bouts of agoraphobia. Most of my work outs are usually completed at home or in my garden. I live with hyper vigilance, anxiety and panic attacks.
Considering that, it won’t be easy for me to get out and walk, but I’m determined to overcome my own anxieties to exceed 60 miles to fundraise for Refuge, a vitally important charity. I will be thinking of my own experiences, the women I know who have endured this and the women and children we have lost to domestic abuse, to keep me focused on the goal.
Ending male violence against women and children must be a societal priority, it’s unfortunately enabled, until that changes the least any of us can do is help those forced to use the refuges. I’m aware there is an ongoing cost of living crisis due to the former Tory government so please only donate if able, even £1 would mean a lot. Also, I do not control the money for this page. It will go directly to Refuge and set up as a part of their initiative.

Refuge is a charity that supports thousands of women and their children impacted by male violence.
Just £15 could provide essentials for a woman arriving at a refuge. Many arrive at a Refuge with nothing. Your donation could provide essentials like toiletries and food to help a woman and her children through their first night.
Every £1 makes a difference. Thank you!
