Story
Owain, Jo, John, Rachel and Zoe are raising money for Vetlife by joining the Vetlife team and other fantastic supporters, to freefall abseil down the ArcelorMittal Orbit!
It’s a real privilege to work in this profession but the nature and intensity of our work can leave us vulnerable to developing a range of mental health conditions.
By taking part we hope to increase awareness of the support services offered by Vetlife and raise funds to ensure their vital work can continue.
Vetlife is an independent Charity that provides free and confidential support to anyone in the UK veterinary community who has emotional, health or financial problems. Today, the Charity is providing more support than ever.
Vetlife provides a 24/7 confidential Helpline which is open to all members of the veterinary community including vet nurses, students, and other practice non-clinical staff. There were 3,503 contacts to Helpline in 2022 - a rise of 3.3%.
Most markedly, the Vetlife Financial Support service received a 236% increase in applications last year.
“I wouldn’t describe myself as brave, so this is a huge personal challenge for me. Owain and John are coming along to make sure I haven’t employed a body double to do the abseil in my place!” - Rachel
"I've had my own battles with mental health and have required support from a number of services, and my employers. Charities such as Vetlife are essential and I'm thankful to be able to join the fundraiser." - Zoe
"Vetlife supported me when I was a full time RVN and they do so much to support our colleagues in the Veterinary industry." - Jo
