On 12th October 2024 I will taking part in the Endurance Life Suffolk Ultra Marathon (https://www.endurancelife.com/suffolk) in the hope of raising as much money as I can for the amazing charity, Stargardt's Connected. This will involve running (!) 32.6 miles across forest, moorland, grass and beach whilst ascending more than 1,100 feet.

I am doing this for two of my daughters who were diagnosed with a rare degenerative eye condition called Stargardt Disease in 2021.

Stargardt Disease is an inherited eye condition. It causes a reduction in your central detailed vision, which is the vision you use when looking directly at something - for example, it will make reading text or recognising faces almost impossible.

It is most commonly diagnosed in children and young adults and affects approximately one in 10,000 people.

There is currently no treatment or cure for Stargardt Disease… there are many clinical trials underway for drug treatments and gene therapy but at the moment nothing is certain.

Since 2021, Stargardt’s Connected have helped the girls and our family immeasurably.

The charity helps by raising awareness, giving support to those affected by the disease and their loved ones and also helps to raise funds for research.
