Story
About two years ago we lost my father in law at an early age to sickness that could have been averted through a healthy lifestyle. My husband (Rajdeep) was shattered by his death. It took him a very long time to heal but when he did he promised to himself that he will work hard to lead a healthy life for our family. Raj started running and eating healthy. At first he struggled but he did not stop. He has now completed several half marathons and his first marathon at Manchester. He’s training for his next marathon to be held in Berlin, later this year. I am sure he will be amazing. He misses his father every day and every day he endeavours to get better at what he does. I am extremely proud of him and find his energy and enthusiasm very contagious. Yes, it finally got me!
I have been forever the laziest person in the world and loved to lie in my couch doing absolutely nothing. But these days I find myself excited about my running plan. Rain or shine I step out and I run. At first I struggled to run even 1 km straight. But I am getting better with each run. 10k for me is a lot. But with Raj’s support I am finding this challenge enjoyable. I lead the charity club initiatives at work and the charity of the year is Shooting Stars Hospices. I decided to do the Hampton court palace 10k to raise funds for them and it feels great to contribute even if I am able to raise a tiny amount for a good cause. Just like Raj inspires me, I too want to lead by example. Maybe I too will be able to pass this enthusiasm ahead..
Support me as I join #TeamShootingStar to take on the Hampton Court 10k, making every mile count for families who are living in the most unimaginable circumstances.
