Story
We are a team of Doctors, Nurses, Nursing Assistants and Security staff from across the stroke service at West Suffolk Hospital.
We are taking part in a SkyDive to raise money for MyWish Charity with all funds going directly to enhance the care of patients on the Stroke Unit.
Having a stroke is life changing. It comes without warning and does not discriminate who it chooses. People of all ages and walks of life can be affected and are often left with limb weakness, impaired speech, swallowing issues, visual, balance and cognitive changes. Most patients also go on to experience long term psychological and emotional issues as well as huge changes to their social and working lives. Patients and families often find themselves in the most challenging and devastating of circumstances.
We pledge to push ourselves beyond the limit, jumping 13000 feet from an aircraft, at 120mph if it means that those in our care can have a better experience and outcome.
We are nervous, and every one of us is stepping outside of our comfort zone. However we know that these feelings are just a small fraction of what stroke patients and their loved ones face; loss of control, fear, uncertainty and placing your trust and ultimately your life in someone else's hands.
We are 100% committed to this challenge and to make a difference and so we ask those of you to please support us too in reaching our goal.
Thank you,
Jodie
