Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page - welcome to our Big Girl Pants Fundraiser for 2024.
Each year we focus our annual fundraising efforts by choosing a local charity, we choose our charities very carefully as we love to spread our fundraising love to those who we feel need it the most at a given time.
Last year our chosen charity was the UHNM charity of University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust, that raises funds for Royal Stoke University Hospital and County Hospital, Stafford. All monies raised will go directly to the Breast Care teams/departments at these hospitals.
Last year we raised an amazing £24,000 towards the charity, under our Big Girl Pants Fundraiser, these funds were raised over the year with lots of different events - Born Survivor mud runs, beauty evenings, half marathons, Iron Man and a Christmas wreath making class. The main event was our Big Girl Pants charity ball that took place in October 2023, where we raised an amazing £13,700 from the night.
This year we will continue to raise funds for the UHNM Charity as it is very close to our hearts.
November 2022 Strategi's Managing Director Rob Fisher’s wife Sue was diagnosed with Hormonal Breast Cancer, and spent November 2022 through until December 2023 undergoing treatment at the Breast Cancer Centre at the Royal Stoke Hospital that included Chemotherapy, surgery, and Radiotherapy. Sue, our friend, received the most amazing care at the unit and naturally we wanted to be able to give something back as a thank you for all the wonderful support that she has received.
So, why Big Girl Pants? When Sue received her diagnosis, she was naturally upset and worried for what was to come, and one of the first things Sue said was ‘I need to put my big girl pants on’. Sue had an army of friends and family who supported her through her treatment, who wore pink glittery badges to support her every time she attended the hospital for her appointments. Sue’s diagnosis has really emphasized all the hard work and dedication that comes from the fantastic people that work at our hospitals and we want to raise as much money as possible for them, and whilst Sue's treatment is now complete and she is in remission, we will still continue to raise funds for this important charity.
We want to ensure that this money continues to make a true difference to the Hospital and the people who will be treated there, and therefore have ambitions to donate the money we raise to fund something that will genuinely impact the unit. Monies raised from our 2023 campaign will be going towards helping to fund a new Breast Care Centre at County Hospital in Stafford.
