Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

On Sunday 3rd December 2023, we will be going again for the 4th edition of the football rivalry between the 'older' and 'younger' year groups at Stoke Newington.

We will be fundraising for a charity close to our hearts - Hackney Night Shelter - whose mission is to provide routes out of homelessness for people in need in Hackney. This mission is increasingly important around Christmas, a time where no one should be sleeping rough. This week the latest rough sleeping figures were published - showing a 24% increase in the number of people found sleeping rough in London in just the last three months.

For over 25 years Hackney Night Shelter have not only provided emergency accommodation and shelter for those in need in our community, but also professional and holistic support to help their guests rebuild their lives and move towards a more sustainable lifestyle. Hackney Night Shelter don't receive any government funding, so rely on grants, donations and fundraising to fund their vital work. Events like this are a huge opportunity to raise money to continue providing this essential service for those experiencing homelessness in Hackney.

A number of our friends and family have been volunteering at the shelter in support of the all year round support Hackney Night Shelter offers to members of our community.

Fundraising events like this will help Hackney Night Shelter start the year strongly and help even more people than before.

You can find out more about the great work that Hackney Night Shelter do here: https://www.hwns.org.uk/

The event kicks off at 4pm on Sunday 3rd December at Stoke Newington School - we invite you to come down, watch and show your support.

The match will be followed by an exciting raffle taking place at The Mildmay Club from 5:30pm onwards, with plenty of prizes on offer and live entertainment. So make sure you don't miss out. We hope to see you then!

On the day remember to bring cash! There will be food to buy (pay as you want) and raffle prizes to get your hands on.

Details for each venue is as follows:

From 4pm, the game will be held at Stoke Newington School - Clissold Rd, London N16 9EX (4pm Kick off).

From 5:30pm, the post-game entertainment will be held at The Mildmay Club - 33-34 Newington Grn, London N16 9PR (5:30pm Kick off).

Many thanks in advance for your support and donations,

Adam, Bertie, Emmanuel and the 'Olders' and 'Youngers'.
