Story

Reggie was born with Oesophageal Atresia and spent over 7 months in Hospital, 6 of those at Kings College Hospital. During this time he underwent 3 major surgeries plus various other complications.

In December last year, he randomly decided to set himself a challenge of running 5k a day for a whole year. Two weeks in, he is doing really well. Now he’s really determined to continue, so I suggested he do it for charity and raise some money for a good cause. He agreed it’s a good idea but has left it up to me to sort out. He’s too busy running!

I genuinely don’t like asking people for donations and putting pressure on anyone. Especially now when everything is so expensive! It just made sense to do it for charity. Any little amount would be so appreciated.

So, there was never any doubt over who I would choose. The care and treatment Reggie received at Kings College Hospital was absolutely amazing and we will always be beyond grateful. Reggie turns 18 this year and there were times I genuinely thought I would never get to see him grow up.

I have specifically chosen Kings NICU because he spent a good 3 months in there, receiving 1-1 care. His first month being at Chelsea & Westminster NICU before he was transferred.

Those first initial months in Hospital with a newborn are so significant for both babies and their families.

Thank you

Sharon & Steve xx

KING’S NICU

As a team we are aiming to raise funds to provide resources for each baby including Zaky Hands and other positioning and comfort aids as well as developmental and sensory toys and equipment.

Resources used by our team of therapists and nurses has a positive impact on developmental outcomes for babies.

In addition to this any improvements we can make in the provision of facilities and support for families and carers will seek to enhance their experience and help them navigate their neonatal journey.

Thank you so much for your contribution, it will mean so much to our special babies and their families.
