Story
Prostate cancer affects 1 in 8 men in the UK. That's thousands of dads, brothers, partners, grandads, mates, sons and uncles. But it doesn't have to be this way.
On the 25th June (yesterday), a group of 14 golfers from the Scotch Whisky industry will took part in a Golf Marathon to raise funds for Prostate Cancer UK. The marathon involved playing 100 holes of golf over one day.
Playing at Ballindalloch Golf Club, the challenge was expected to take 14 hours to complete, with the golfers walking approximately 35 miles - the number of golf shots was more difficult to calculate!!
In reality it took 17 hours. I recorded over 72,000 steps and we each walked around 38 - 40 miles. Oh and I carried my clubs (driver, 3w, hybrid and 7 irons + the putter).
The reason it took longer was the persistent rain that came on after 27 holes and only ceased when we had 9 to go. That's 64 holes of us and the clubs and bag getting wetter and wetter.
I am sure someone in your life has been affected by cancer. Your donation will help fund lifesaving research to find better tests to diagnose men sooner. Thank you for your support.
