Story
Colon cancer prevention is a cause that is dear to my heart and is an issue that impacts my family directly. My mother was saved thanks to early detection of colon cancer!
I would be honoured if you would support me as I hike the GUT trail at Ski Wentworth to help get more Nova Scotians to complete their Home FIT test and help find more cancers early at the Dartmouth General Hospital‘s new 3rd endoscopy suite
Thanks to this new Endo Suite at DGH - the wait time for a FIT positive colonoscopy is ZERO weeks!
Every day one Nova Scotian dies from a disease that is 90% preventable. That disease is colorectal cancer. 2024 will mark the 16th Anniversary of Get Up There (GUT), which raises funds and awareness to support colorectal cancer screening and prevention. Funds raised through GUT have helped the Dartmouth General Hospital Foundation purchase state-of-the-art equipment and technology used to screen for colorectal cancer. In late 2022, Dartmouth General Hospital opened a 3rd Endoscopy Suite which is being used exclusively for screening FIT-positive patients, thanks to the efforts of GUT participants, sponsors and donors.
