Along with two of our grandchildren (Harriet and Sophia) we are doing a 5 mile dawn walk to support The Whitechapel Centre's Outreach Team who are out every day, helping people who are sleeping rough in our city.

Whitechapel is a charity driven by its humanitarian commitment to never give up on anyone who is homeless or threatened with homelessness. Sometimes the task to rehouse individuals is difficult but I can garantee that anyone who is street homeless will be offered help by the outreach team initially to get off the streets before being offered longer term help to access housing of their choice. The situation on Merseyside is dire at present with people having to resort to tents in the absence of even termporary accomodation and then their problems get more entrenched.

The walk up the River Mersey is a delight but by startng it at 6.30am, it reminds us that our staff are out on the streets in all weather, supporting vulnerable people off the streets - Your financial assistace is vital to maintaining our outreach work and your commitment gives an inportant message of support to staff doing a difficult job
