I'm doing the 2024 Great North Run in support of Myeloma UK

I'm running Great North Run in memory of my dad, Bob Garnett who died last year after being diagnosed with myeloma.
Myeloma is an incurable form of blood cancer and extremely debilitating. I'm running in support of Myeloma UK because they are the only organisation in the UK dealing exclusively with myeloma. Their ultimate goal is to find a cure and they support patients ensuring they get the right treatment to allow them to live as normal a life as possible, for as long as possible.
Until his diagnosis, dad had been extremely active, hill walking, golfing and in his earlier days, running. After taking up running in his 40s, he went on to complete 100s of marathons, half marathons and fell races in UK and USA, often raising money for charities. As a proud Geordie, he ran the first Great North Run back in 1981 and many times thereafter, and so for me to run this race seemed a fitting tribute.
His PB marathon time was 2 hours 52 minutes, and whilst I'll be lucky to run under this for a half marathon, I will do my best to make him proud and raise some money!
Any donations are really appreciated no matter how big or small.
Thank you.
Steph
