I'm Harry Lawrence and with some friends, I am raising money in aid of St.Christophers Special Educational Needs Secondary school based in Lincoln.
The school has communicated any donations received will go towards sensory play equipment typically swings costing £190.80-£250 per swing and tricycles costing £495.00 each - please find hyperlinks below to view examples of the equipment the school has given me listed below. The school wants to purchase equipment which is robust so it will stand the test of time. Some of the children at the school also have difficulties with regards movement, so the tricycles mentioned will allow these students to engage with their peers and and manoeuvre round the school.
Having an environment which engages the senses is important to these young people - it felt fitting as a result to pick an environment as sensory as a Tough Mudder (05/07/25) to attempt to raise the school as much money as possible. The Tough Mudder is a robust physical challenge subjecting its participants to mud, water, ice, electricity and heights. It is a test of stamina and strength for those who engage. I will also be doing the Lincoln 10 K (06/04/25).
I've been toured round the school, having the chance to see their classroom spaces and briefly meet some of their students. Having worked previously with both adults and children with learning disabilities and autism, I am motivated to fundraise to help a wider community of young people many of whom share these care needs.
All donations will be gladly appreciated and to give extra bang for your buck, I have an anonymous donor who up to a maximum of £2000 being donated by the public will donate 20% of what is raised - essentially any donation given by the public up until £2000 pounds is raised will ultimately be 20% more valuable. This donor has agreed to contribute this figure following the completion of both of the stated fundraiser events.
St. Christophers has also advised that once purchased they will be happy to share photos of the equipment purchased - I will share this via the fundraiser page on social media allowing everybody to see the equipment their donations have gone to.
