Stapletons Peterborough are proud to be supporting the Leicester Hospitals Charity for 2023.

On the 10th February 2022, a friend of Tom Northwood, our Operations Manager here in Peterborough, sadly passed away at just 27 years of age; she will be #forever27.

Charley-Lee is missed, every day, by her friends and family but by none more than her 2 children with youngest; Baby Ellis, only being 37 days old at the time of her passing and never getting the opportunity to get to know his Mum.

Charley was a beacon of light to all that knew her; she was fun, energetic, always had a smile on her face and made everyone around her laugh and smile too.

During Charley's short illness, she received exceptional care from the ICU team at Glenfield Hospital in Leicester and, after speaking with Charley's family, they asked if Tom could raise money for their ICU department, as a thank you for the loving care and treatment they gave to her.

Tom will be doing loads of different, individual, fundraising events (see his personal JustGiving page for more info) but all of us here at Stapletons Peterborough want to support Tom also and do our bit so, in addition to what Tom is doing, we want to have some fun and raise some cash so are encouraging all our colleagues, guests and visitors to take part in a year of activities and help us raise £1,500 for Glenfield Hospital, all via the Leicester Hospitals Charity, with the money we raise specifically going to support patients in the ICU requiring ECMO treatment, something they provided Charley with, whilst she was there.

Just to explain, Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) is where blood is pumped outside of your body, through a heart-lung machine which removes the carbon dioxide, oxygenates the blood and pumps it back into your body.

Glenfield Hospital is one of the worlds busiest ECMO centres and is the only hospital in the UK that provides ECMO treatment to both adults and children.
