The London Marathon has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember – 18 years of trying to get a place, and finally, 2025 is my year!
This year is extra special, as I’ll be running on my dad’s birthday. Sorry, Dad, for borrowing your birthday for yet another one of my crazy ideas – but I promise to cross the finish line (and try not to take too long)!
So, why the Alzheimer’s Society?
If you know me, you know I love to make and share my memories.
I’ve been incredibly lucky to grow up surrounded by unforgettable moments:
- Driving in a homemade camper to amazing locations. Thanks dad!
- Summer holidays spent with fun days out.
- Long road trips to Scotland with my friends for dance competitions, where time flew by with endless giggles and stories.
These moments are what make me, and they are who I am.
That’s why the thought of losing those memories—or seeing others lose theirs—feels so heart-breaking. Sadly, I’ve experienced this with my very special nan and close loved ones.
The Alzheimer’s Society says, “It’s not called getting old, it’s called dementia.” With 1 in 3 people born in the UK today expected to be diagnosed with dementia, this isn’t something we can ignore.
I’m running for the special people in my life who are fighting this cruel disease right now, and for all the families impacted by dementia.
This marathon is my small way of giving back, supporting an incredible charity that helps people living with dementia and funds vital research for a future without it.
Each mile of this marathon will be for someone special – a person whose story inspires me to keep going. Over the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing who each mile is dedicated to, so you can join me in celebrating these amazing people.
Thank you for supporting me and the Alzheimer’s Society. Together, we ensure that no one faces dementia alone.
So lets run for memories, and let’s make them count. ❤️
