Update!
It was an absolute privilege to take part in the London Marathon. The support from the crowd was truly amazing (people shouting my name for 26 miles and the children high-fiving me, just fantastic).
I was also thrilled with my good-for-age time, the icing on the cake 🤩
Can’t thank you enough for all your generous sponsorship, this will really make a difference, and British Blind Sport are such a wonderful committed hard-working bunch of people.
Knowing everyone was cheering me on/tracking me both on the course or at home, meant so much.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart,

On the 21st April 2024 I will be running the London Marathon to raise money for British Blind Sport. This will be my first marathon. Until I retired last June, the sum total of my activity each week was doing parkrun (5k) on a Saturday morning, and I was even known to whinge about that. So committing to do 42k is a real challenge to say the least and training has been… well let’s say tough!
But I really want to do this, as everyone should have the opportunity to run or to partake in whatever sport they choose, and any money raised will help make this a reality.
The work of the charity enables visually impaired people to have the same opportunities as sighted people to access and enjoy sport and recreation activities. In the UK alone there are more than 2 million children and adults with severe sight loss who need our help now more than ever before.
Anything you can give would be great, small contributions all mount up, and just having your support on the day will mean everything.
Thanks for reading.
