Story
Esperanza Health Centers is very near and dear to my heart. It is a federally qualified health center that provides high quality services to people in medically underserved areas regardless of insurance or documentation status. It is the place where I fell in love with the field of Family Medicine and decided to pursue it as my own career.
I am a first generation Mexican American and the first in my family to become a physician. I was raised in the Brighton Park neighborhood and experienced firsthand the complexities of navigating the health system in a medically underserved area. I pursued a career in medicine with the hope to one day provide Spanish, culturally sensitive, high-quality care to Latinos in a medically underserved area. As a physician at Esperanza in Brighton Park, I’ve come full circle in my career to serve the community in which I was raised and I am deeply honored for this privilege.
Esperanza is truly special in the many ways it serves Latinos with complex medical needs and of low socioeconomic backgrounds. Grants and donations make a large part of our work possible. That is why I’m asking you to consider donating this Giving Tuesday. Your donation can fund a medical appointment for someone who otherwise would not be able to afford it. Please consider giving for this really important cause.
