I first met Sam and Elly, when Mikaere was just a few weeks old. Sam and Elly had just been given the devastating news that Mikaere had Nonketotic Hyperglycinemia.

I feel very privileged that I was able to be Mikaere's children's community nurse for 6 years. It was a real pleasure to work alongside this family. To see how Elly and Sam have advocated for Mikaere over those 6 years was incredible. UCL are making some great tracks into research of NKH. Sadly, the research into this rare genetic disease, is not funded by the NHS.

Elly and Sam up Mikaere Foundation to ensure 100% of money raised goes to help research into this fatal disease.

When I saw they had some places, I felt it was something I could do by raising money and awareness.

I have sadly been injured since December and only in the last 2 weeks been back running.
