Dr Jonathan Lenten's Royal Marines Charity Challenge
On the 20th July 2023, Jonathan will be taking on the formidable "Bottom Field" and Royal Marines Endurance Course to raise funds for RMA The Royal Marines Charity.
RMA The Royal Marines Charity offers lifelong support to serving personnel, the veteran community and families of Royal Marines. This year the charity have seen a 36% increase in support needed and anticipate that this will rise again in 2023 as the cost of living crisis and its impact develops. St Peter's Preparatory School have chosen to support their local charity in raising vital funds to ensure that the important work is able to continue where it is needed most. Thank you for your support.
Jonathan’s Story
As a GP who many of you will know, I am asking if you would kindly sponsor me to support the Royal Marines Charity.
Any donation, however small (or large!) would be appreciated.
The Royal Marines are the Royal Navy’s elite amphibious rapid response infantry. When required, they are likely to be some of the first personnel to face the dangers encountered in warfare, wherever in the world they are deployed on our nation’s behalf.
Throughout my career of 35 years as a doctor and 31 years as an NHS GP, I have personally been involved in helping a number of servicemen and servicewomen with PTSD, loss of limbs and other health issues related to their experiences in the armed forces. I have seen first-hand how they and those closest to them may struggle psychologically and financially with the effects on aspects of daily life that most of us just take for granted.
So please help me support the RMA by sponsoring me as I attempt the Royal Marines Commando Challenge, which involves completing part of their final training assault course over 6 miles of terrain.
Many thanks for your support
Jonathan
