Story

This year’s appeal is inspired by Pope Francis’s call for young people to use their voice to make a difference in the world. Every penny raised by our school will support the Catholic Children’s Society’s work with disadvantaged local children and families. We have often called upon the Catholic Children’s Society to support some of our families, and we know, firsthand, how valuable their work is.

In St Anthony’s, we are linking our appeal to our love of reading, and we are encouraging all children to be sponsored for reading books (or similar) during Lent.

Parents and friends can sponsor children for each book they read (perhaps 50p per book) or for each evening they read instead of watching TV or playing computer games. Children can also be sponsored to give up their mobile phones (at home) and read instead!

In addition to this, we will be having a ‘bring and buy book event’. Each child can donate books that they no longer read, and we will then have a book sale (organised by the Mini-Vinnies) where children can buy a book or two for 50p or similar.

All money collected either through the JustGiving link or in the little money boxes and the money raised at the book sale event will go directly to The Catholic Children’s Society.

Keep reading the newsletter for more information and dates.

Thank you for your continued support.
