Hi, I’m Mathew Whitehouse and in October 2025, I’ll be taking on the incredible challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, the tallest mountain in Africa, to raise vital funds for Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

This is more than just a trek—it’s a mission to make a difference in the lives of children and families who rely on the incredible care and support provided by Birmingham Children’s Hospital. Every step I take up Kilimanjaro’s 5,895-meter peak will bring us closer to giving these families the hope and resources they need.

Why Kilimanjaro?

Mount Kilimanjaro is the ultimate test of endurance, determination, and strength. Over 7 days, I’ll trek the scenic but challenging Machame Route, crossing diverse terrains from lush rainforests to the icy summit. It won’t be easy, but knowing I’m raising funds for such an incredible cause will keep me going.

I’m teaming up with Action Challenge, a professional trekking company with decades of experience organizing life-changing adventures like this. With their support, I’ll be prepared every step of the way.
