Story
During the Pandemic, we lost access to our dojo due to restrictions imposed by our previous school, after a short stint training in the sun/snow, Wildridings Primary offered us a new Karate home.
The site manager, Andy Hey made us feel welcome and we quickly realized just how involved he was in the community, from marshalling Bracknell Half marathon to popping up at Horseshoe lake swimming outdoors.
Andy's passion was the children of our community and he would regularly support them, in anyway he could, particularly through sport. Andy ran football clubs, coached cricket and even supported non-swimmers in the school pool - there wasn't much Andy wouldn't do.
Andy's wife Sarah has asked that instead of flowers and gifts, a sporting gift would be created. The school has therefore started fundraising for a multi-purpose sports pitch to benefit a wide range of people in the community.
Its been a few years since our last fundraising event and some of our newer members have not yet taken part in one, but previously the club has raised over £50,000 for local charities. We are therefore delighted to support this fund this year and hope we can make a big difference.
This year, our members will be taking part in the best of all of our previous challenges, so members can expect to be punching, kicking, throwing, squatting, running through as many karate lessons as they can manage in two evenings.
