Sleep Out at the Eden Project 2024
Campaign by Amber (RCN 1051388)
Come join us for the Eden Sleep Out on Thursday 14th November 2024 and raise money to support young people facing homelessness, long term unemployment and mental-ill health.

Story

On Thursday 14th November I am taking part in the Eden Project Sleep Out to raise money for the Amber Foundation.

I went into Foster Care from 9 years old. My life had many complexities and I could have very much taken a different path. It is thanks to charities like this I had the opportunity to break the cycle. Carefree and Cornwall Council made this difference to me as a child, young person and employee and continue to do so now. I know first hand just how important and life changing these charities can be.

Young people turn to Amber for a variety of complex reasons and they can come from all walks of life. However most are from disadvantaged backgrounds and many have been in care. The common triggers are family breakdown, leaving care, prison release or losing a private tenancy. However most are also dealing with trauma, mental ill-health and/or addiction.

Amber provides a temporary but safe home at their centres in Devon, Wiltshire, Surrey and Kent. During their stay each young person receives full support and follows Amber's unique development programme designed to support them to turn their life around and move on to a bright, independent future.
