Sotiris' Guinness World Record attempt for the DofE

Sotiris Georgiopoulos is raising money for The DofE

London Marathon 2026 · 26 April 2026 · Start fundraising for this event

We’re more determined than ever to make sure new generations, especially young people from disadvantaged groups, can discover the power of DofE.

Story

I’m taking on the London Marathon 2026… in full electrical engineer outfit! ⚡🏃‍♂️

This April, I’ll be lining up at the London Marathon 2026 with a very specific (and slightly mad) goal:

to break the Guinness World Record for the Fastest Marathon Dressed as an Electrical Engineer (Male). This is the same kind of kit UK Power Networks field super men and women wear every day while keeping the lights on.

⏱ Time to beat: 4 hours 30 minutes

👷‍♂️ Outfit: full electrical engineer gear

(UKPN coveralls, high-vis vest, protective goggles, hard hat and holding a voltmeter... for the duration of the run)

💪 Challenge level: extremely high

I’m running to support and raise vital funds for The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, an incredible charity that helps young people build confidence, resilience, and life skills.

The money raised will go directly towards ensuring that more young people, especially those facing financial and other barriers, can take part in these truly life‑changing opportunities.
