24 mums are setting out for 3 days hiking on remote mountain trails in the Fiz Massif mountain range adjoining Mont Blanc in the French Alps. They will be hiking to altitudes of over 2300m (almost double the height of Ben Nevis), carrying all their own equipment and sleeping in remote mountain refuges. All to raise money for St George’s Ethiopia.
Now in its 2nd year, the Alpine Challenge is one of St George’s biggest fundraisers and this year the school needs the funds more than ever. Rising inflation and food costs in Ethiopia have increased 500% -700% and are having a dramatic impact on St George's and the support needed to help these children. In recent months due to the influx of refugees from Sudan there has been civil unrest and intermittent local lockdowns due to military interventions to protect the Gondar region where St George's is located.
