Story
[All donations go directly to Play Action International]
In June 2024 I will be heading out to Kisumu in Kenya with the charity Play Action International. Throughout the month we will be building a playground in a local school for disadvantaged children. My goal in this initiative is to help children in Kenya grow up in a fun and fulfilling environment, something a lot of us have grown up with and have taken for granted. I also want to gain exposure to life in Kenya, including their culture, language, education and food, and immerse myself in their ways of life, in the hopes of improving my cultural and international awareness.
To challenge myself I have signed up to a long half-marathon at the end of February 2024 - the TEC Lulworth Cove. It’s a trail route along the south coast of England with a total elevation gain of 630m/2070ft. I’m committing to a training plan of 4x runs and 2-3h of strength training a week to work towards the challenge.
Play Action International is a UK registered charity and international NGO, working to enrich children's lives through play. They do this by providing vulnerable children with play facilities and play based learning programmes, enabling them to gain all the developmental benefits that play has to offer and the tools for future success.
