Story
A baby is born with a serious heart condition every two hours in the UK and despite congenital heart disease being one of the biggest killers of infants, only around half of congenital heart defects are picked up during routine prenatal scanning.
Our five month old baby boy Vernon was born with life threatening congenital heart disease. Although the diagnosis was devastating, we consider ourselves some of the lucky ones as his condition was detected early by a sonographer at our 20 week scan. Thanks to this, we were able to prepare as best we could for his arrival with a care plan in place involving teams of specialist doctors and surgeons.
The money you donate to Tiny Tickers will go towards training more sonographers around the country to pick up heart defects antenatally, as well as providing support to parents and families of CHD children like us.
We are supporting Tiny Tickers during Heart Week 2024 to help provide a safety net for the 1,000 babies each year that leave hospital with their heart defect undetected, improving a baby's chances of survival and long-term quality of life.
Please consider donating or sharing our fundraising page to help this brilliant charity and heart babies everywhere.
Thank you -
