Story
This event is a pretty big deal for me. I suffer with POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome) and can't quite believe I've signed up to my first marathon. When I was first diagnosed I couldn't even walk to the toilet without getting breathless and dizzy, with my pulse regularly hitting above 150. I have worked so hard to build up my fitness and reduce my symptoms and am so grateful to where I am today. When I was told I had POTS a year and a half ago, I told myself I'd run a marathon some day. So here goes........
To mark this big bucket list dream, I thought why not raise a little money and awareness at the same time and I knew straight away which charity to pick. The East Anglian Air Ambulance receives no regular government funding and relies entirely on the generous support of the community. The funds raised ensures helicopter crews can continue to be there for people in the most serious of medical emergencies, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. As a Paramedic, I am very passionate about what I do and want to do the best for my patients. EAAA is such a vital resource and I am always happy when I see the yellow helicopter land! 🚁
So if you too are passionate about ensuring such an important charity can continue to operate and make a difference to patients in their time of need, or like me you want to raise a bit of awareness and positivity to the autoimmune community, or you just want to see a fenland girl make a tit of herself on those Cromer hills, then please share, support or sponsor. I appreciate money is tight for most of us, so any funding I receive would be hugely appreciated. If you can spare a couple of quid, it would mean so much to me.
