Story
I am taking part in the Brain Tumour Research Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon 2024 on Sunday 12th May.
Last year, both Brad and Zoe lost their battles with brain tumours. Brad was a husband and father to three wonderful children and since then they and their mum have become family to me. Zoe has been an inspiration to both myself, my mum and many others with her positivity and loving outlook on the world. Her two boys and husband are still here and whilst they are thriving, I’m sure they miss her presence in this world terribly along with many others. Prior to last year, I’d lost my friend Joe to a brain tumour. His loss hit hard.
I’m running to raise funds to research brain tumours in the hope that a future exists where people can fight and survive these to see their children grow up, to grow old themselves.
Even now I know others who are battling daily, so this unexpected marathon distance will be taken on wholeheartedly with their battles in mind. Please give what you can to fund this research. It means the world to me and it could mean a lifetime to someone very soon.
Thank you in advance ✨
One in three people know someone affected by a brain tumour and brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer, yet historically just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease.
Brain Tumour Research is determined to change this!
Brain Tumour Research are the only national charity in the UK focused on finding a cure for all types of brain tumours through campaigning to increase the national investment in brain tumour research to £35 million per year, while fundraising to create a network of seven sustainable Brain Tumour Research Centres of Excellence across the UK.
