Story

Sophy and Virge started the path on the 21st August 2019. They began in Minehead at the start of the South West Coast Path, walking through north Devon, the entirety of the Cornish coast and reaching as far as Wembury in South Devon together. Since Virge’s death, her daughters, Natty and Nell, and her husband Jonti have been walking with Sophy to complete the journey. Now, 630 miles and four counties later we will finish with family and friends in celebration of Virge and Sophy on Saturday 26th April.

We wanted to encourage those walking with us on this final stretch, as well as those who can’t be with us, to support the South West Coast Path Association who champion and protect the South West Coast Path. Virge cared deeply for this wild and wonderful stretch of coastline and was a strong advocate for the mental and physical benefits of walking. With this in mind she would have been proud to ask for donations towards the protection and preservation of this threatened and ever changing coastline. By supporting our campaign, you’ll be helping the Association make this path resilient and enhance accessibility for walkers.
