Team story:
During lockdown, Phillip had problems swallowing and thought it was just stress or an ulcer. After several delayed attempts (due to covid), he had an endoscopy, which showed a 35cm tumour growing around the lining of his stomach. He was a fit 48 year old, who was a keen runner and healthy eater...
After finding the tumour he had aggressive chemotherapy and eventually had his entire stomach removed.
He took up sea swimming in the North Sea, which helped his mental health, and he met a great bunch of people, who all looked out for him... Sadly the cancer could not be contained and spread quickly and he died in early 2022, about a year after the tumour was found.
He was positive till the end, but left a huge hole in the lives of those he left behind, including his mental health patients and the homeless man who he brought soup to each morning on the way to work.
Phillip Brooke, taken too early ❤️ x
