Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
The first step of any journey is often the hardest especially for someone living on the street and thinking they are one of life’s forgotten people. However as Christmas fast approaches, we are reminded of the importance of giving back to those in need and I am for the 7th year fundraising for Crisis, a charity that provides shelter and support for people experiencing street homelessness. Every year, I organize a Christmas Pop-Up Shop and Raffle to raise money for this cause. While I know not everyone can attend in person, you can still make a difference by donating here.
This year's Crisis Christmas appeal is more urgent than ever before. Rough sleeping alone has increased in England in the last year. That's why Crisis will be taking over hotels across London that will accommodate more than 400 people who would otherwise be sleeping rough over Christmas. Combined with many more who will receive support through their day centres in the capital and frontline services across Britain, Crisis will be supporting more than 6,000 people experiencing homelessness this Christmas.
I am setting a target amount of £725 for this year's fundraiser. It may seem like a small amount compared to the overall need, but every little bit helps. Also Crisis has calculated that amount could help individuals start their life changing journey out of homelessness permanently including ongoing support through the year A warm place at a specially opened Crisis Christmas centre costs £29.80 (last year it was £29.73) during this bitterly cold festive period and this includes a safe place to stay, warm meals to eat and access to different services plus year round support including training and education.
In the past seven years, with the help of my generous family, friends, and 425 places for homeless guests at shelter over Christmas. However, there is still so much more we can do. The cost of living is hard on everyone, but it's especially difficult for those who are homeless during this bitterly cold festive period.
Please consider donating whatever you can spare to help reach this goal and make a difference in someone's life this holiday season. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
