Story
Hi wonderful people!
If you are reading this, you'll know I am not a natural runner. But i've set myself a challenge to try and run Royal Parks Half Marathon, this October, in support of Refugee Action.
Refugee Action have been standing up for refugees since 1981, and their vision is that refugees and people seeking asylum will be welcome in the UK. They deliver frontline services for refugees, and campaign for their rights.
At Virgin Unite, I feel privileged to be working as part of an incredible (small-but-mighty) team who collaborate to tackle a number of unacceptable issues that we face in the world today - including the Refugee Crisis.
What is clear, is that the Refugee Crisis is one of the most defining challenges of our time, and everyone has the power to help refugees rebuild their lives.
By the end of 2024, forecasts suggest that over 130 million people will be forcibly displaced or stateless - a statistic which might not be surprising given the upward trajectory of emergencies and increasing polarisation we see across the world today (alongside the climate crisis before us).
As long as displacement and other humanitarian crises persist - we must take a whole-of-society approach to uphold our responsibilities and obligations as states, businesses, organisations and as human beings.
There has never been a more critical time to act. So please donate if you can, to help fight for a fairer future for refugees and people seeking safety.
Thanks,
Sofi

P.s., Whilst I have a fundraising target to reach, I also want to point towards somebody who means the world and will be running this event with me... my bro, Pirty. Ben has been extremely brave in sharing his own story and is raising funds in support of Suicide & Co. Please check out his page here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/pirty-plods-for-suicideandco
