Story

We started the Smash It Challenge last year to remember our much-loved colleague Marty Stephens by hiking the Yorkshire 3 Peaks

Over 80 participants joined us on the day. It was incredible to see so many people celebrate Marty’s life and embody his determination and thirst for a challenging adventure. He loved the outdoors and mountaineering was a favourite pastime of his.

This year, we are planning to conquer the Fairfield Horseshoe in the Lake District on Friday 24th May 2024. I know Marty would want me to up the ante, so I am topping up this challenge with a 2.8km open water swim in July.

The Scottish Mountaineering Trust are a fantastic organisation and supply funding to a wide array of initiatives. For more information on their charitable activities please visit https://thesmt.org.uk/

Grateful for any sponsorship to this cause in memory of Marty.

Mike

RCN SC009117
The Scottish Mountaineering Trust is a charity (founded in 1962) which exists to promote the health, education and leisure of the public in all aspects of the Scottish hills and mountains. It gives grants and loans to a wide range of organisations, from bodies which aim to improve access to mountaineering for socially disadvantage groups to established, specialist climbing clubs. The common theme in all the activities which the Trust subsidises is that they must benefit the mountaineering public in one way or another.
