Story
On Thursday the 19th of September we will be holding a fundraising day to raise money for the charity "Day One Trauma". As some of you may already know/have seen, a much loved member of our Smarties (Ripley) team, Lucie Maguire, was involved in a horrific accident on her way home from work in January 2019. Lucie was hit by a tractor whilst helping her mum out of their broken down vehicle, and was dragged down the road for a number of metres. Lucie very nearly lost her life and was left with life changing, catastrophic injuries such as the loss of her right leg, at the very young age of only 19.
Lucie has had consistent support from the charity Day One Trauma, and out of our love for Lucie, and our wish to support the unfunded charity, we will be holding a fundraising day on Thursday to coincide with their "Major trauma awareness week" and "Go Orange" for the day event.
We ask that if you would like to take part and "Go Orange" for the day by dressing your child in orange clothes, that you kindly provide a small £2 donation on entry into nursery.
We will be providing a "soak the teacher" event where either yourselves or the children can throw a lovely wet sponge at a practitioner, all in aid of raising money and maybe a little bit of revenge from the children! We are asking for 50p for two goes at this priceless bit of fun!
We will also be holding a bake sale in the dining room. If you would like to donate a baked good (you can buy them from a shop and donate, we understand lives are so busy with little ones and if you would like to donate but maybe do not have the time to bake we appreciate any donation that can be made). These bakes will be available to purchase throughout the afternoon and evening pick up within nursery.
Lucie will be joining us for a few hours on the day to take part in baking and some arts and crafts and to show her support around the fundraising. We can't wait to see her!
A couple of the practitioners will be offering Face Paint, French Plaiting and Transfer Tattoo's for the children on the day for a small donation of 50p each.
Your child's room will have a list of the children's names and options that you can select for them to take part in. There will be a donation pot in each room, and what you have paid for will be checked off the list to ensure every child enjoys what their parents have donated towards.
We really hope to raise some amazing funds for this fantastic charity as they receive no external funding and rely solely on donations and fundraising, and with this being so close to all of our hearts, we want to raise as much as possible.
Please donate to this amazing charity
We can't wait to see you all and have lot's of fun!
