Story
After my Mum died of a brain tumour a year ago, we vowed that we would live life to the full.
On 8th June, myself and my Dad will be taking part in the Brain Tumour Research ‘Jump for Hope’ – a tandem skydive that will see us jumping from 15,000ft with 60 seconds of freefall!
Brain tumours kill more children and adults under 40 than any other cancer and just 12% survive beyond five years. Every single day 34 people are diagnosed with a brain tumour.
On 14th April last year, Cecilia Keefe, my mum was diagnosed with a glioblastoma , an aggressive brain tumour. Just four weeks late, my Mum took her very last breath; she was aged just 52 years.
75% of people diagnosed with a glioblastoma brain tumour will not survive for more than a year. It took less than a month for my Mum to move from a diagnosis to the end of her life
We are doing this Skydive in memory of my mum. She would never have jumped out of a plane but she was brave and courageous. She would have waited for us as we landed and been there to lend her support and encouragement.
It is heartbreaking, she was my first and forever friend and an incredible mum. There are no words to explain our beautiful relationship. There hasn't been a day that I haven’t miss her. All the beautiful times we experienced I will forever carry. I’m so grateful to have known such a strong, caring, bubbly women and I honour all that she has taught me and I continue to grow and learn. We never had enough time but I cherish the 18 years we spent together. If love could have saved her, she would have lived forever.
Thank you for taking the time and effort to support us – your donation will help find a cure for brain tumours.
