Story
This Summer will mark the second anniversary of SJB cycling from John O’Groats to Lands End (JOGLE) in honour and memory of our beloved colleague and friend, Nick Windsor. We managed to raise and incredible £38,000 for the Royal Marsden Cancer charity, who had worked with Nick and his family through his battle with cancer. The support, generosity and love shown during this time was a clear testament to the community and spirit of SJB but mostly a clear testament to the impact that Nick had on so many of us.
This year we are reaching out to ask for your help as we once again don our Lycra in search of a new challenge to remember and Honour Nick. This year 6 riders, James Granville-Hamshar, Sam Young, Matt Walker, Vicky Sears, Dan Newman and Lewis Ali, will leave the school gates on July the 20th with nothing but a bike and a few pairs of pants as they venture, unsupported, all the way to France. More specifically, to the town of Lourdes. Lourdes is a special place to us here at SJB as for decades we have had students and staff travel to make their own pilgrimages and to also help those who are unable to make the pilgrimage on their own. Lourdes was also an incredibly special place to Nick who had also spent many summers demonstrating true acts of service to those who are less able to make their own pilgrimage.
We are aiming to raise as much money as possible for the Samaritans charity. Nick would often freely give his time in the evenings after teaching at SJB to work with the Samaritans and help those in their most desperate times of need. It is only right that we continue Nicks amazing work and do our very best to help the charity that Nick worked so closely with so that they may continue to aid those in their moments of need. Thank you in advance for your kind and generous donations.
