Story
In April 2024 I will be running (or trying to run) Manchester Marathon. This will be a difficult challenge for me, as during pregnancy I suffered from SPD (symphysis pubis dysfunction), which meant I struggled to walk, let alone run.
Since having our beautiful baby boy, Conall, I have continued to struggle with a weak pelvic floor and tummy separation. To prepare for the marathon I will be starting from scratch. It will be a massive challenge for me, which is why I want to raise money for a very special little boy who has defied all the odds with his with the support of his amazing parents Alex and Phil.
‘Samuel is our happy gorgeous 6 year old and he has Cerebral Palsy, we were told he wouldn’t walk when he was 1 as he hadn’t hit the typical milestones. Since then Samuel has done different types of therapy (hydro therapy, horse riding, physical therapy, dmi Galileo ) every day to defy that diagnosis!!
Samuel had a life changing spinal operation in 2022 called SDR at Alderley Hospital to enable him to take his first unaided steps at home which we are now trying to work on and build strength, core muscle control and most of all balance.
Samuels therapy isn’t funded by the NHS and is quite costly each week. Then the equipment he needs runs into the £1000’s and we have to fund raise each year to make sure he can have all the opportunities available to give him the best chance of independence.
We have a small window of time to increase his independence after the operation. We are fundraising for therapy intensive therapy costs and specialist equipment to help Samuel reach his goal of being as independent as possible and being able to jump in muddy puddles! Which has been a dream of his for some time. We thank you for all your continued support on our journey and sending you all lots of love from the Grimes family xxxxx
