Story
I was born in Malawi where my family lived for 3 years. I spent my first 2 years there but have never found the right opportunity to go back. Over the past 10 years our focus has been on helping the young people of Blackburn via the Blackburn Youth Zone charity. My desire to help children further afield has led me back to Malawi with an introduction to an incredible family run charity called Changing Stars Malawi (CSM).
CSM is an educational charity which sponsors children who would not otherwise be able to afford to attend school, and their families. This may be through building classroom’s, support teachers, providing equipment and resources for nurseries and medical centres and assisting villagers where they need it most.
I have decided to return to my birth land at the end of October, to work with CSM as a volunteer for three weeks, at Mango Tree Nursery in Cape Maclear, Lake Malawi.
My aim is to raise money to help support this charity through a number of fundraising events including our Hurst Green hotpot supper and the G&B Golden Ticket prize draw which was held on 24th October. Unbelievably Elish Kearney, AKA my mum, won the raffle. Eilish is renowned for winning any raffle that she enters… clearly this is no exception. Thank you to everyone who bought tickets.
My adventure in Malawi starts on 26th October. I’ll try to update this page with photos of my journey.

Thank you so much for any continued support that you’re able to offer this incredible charity :)
