Sue Ryder is here to make sure everyone approaching the end of their life or living with grief can get the support they need. There is no one size fits all when it comes to how we cope and the help we need, but with our support, no one has to face dying or grief alone. We are there when it matters.

Story

I have worked as a HCA (Healthcare Assistant) for Sue Ryder, St John’s Hospice, on their inpatient unit for almost two years.

Very often patients or their family ask me how I can do this job and my reply to them is always the same ‘it’s a privilege.’ I work with a team of likeminded people who all feel the same. To be part of a team that gives someone their very last care is incredibly special. And that is the reason that I am taking on this challenge, to continue the wonderful work that Sue Ryder does.

Sue Ryder is here to make sure everyone approaching the end of their life or living with grief can access the support they need. There is no one size fits all when it comes to how we cope and the help we need, but with Sue Ryder's support, no one has to face dying or grief alone. They are there when it matters.

£5 could pay for breakfast for a patient being cared for in one of our hospices. We always do our best to cater for someone’s individual preferences and dietary requirements.

£20 could pay for a patient’s meals for the day in one of our hospices. We always do our best to cater for someone’s individual preferences and dietary requirements.

£25 could fund an hour of expert care, so our Sue Ryder doctors and nurses can manage patients’ pain and symptoms and make more space for a family’s final days to be filled with love.

Around £35 could fund a visit from a Sue Ryder community nurse, providing care in the familiar surroundings of someone’s home.

£60 could provide one complementary therapy session. Relaxing therapies and techniques such as aromatherapy and massage can help to promote wellbeing and ease someone’s symptoms.

A generous gift of £600 from you could help fund another 24 hours of expert care, so our Sue Ryder doctors and nurses can manage patients’ pain and symptoms and make more space for a family’s final days to be filled with love.

It costs around £3,244 for someone to be cared for at home in their final days by a Sue Ryder Nurse.
