Story
Hi everybody - thank you for taking a couple of minutes to read my page.
I’m at it again! After the success of the Sahara trek in March, I’ve decided to swap the desert sand dunes for arctic glaciers in another extreme challenge to honour the memory of my incredible husband, Harry who was courageously daring and loved a challenge.
We begin our 38km trek from Nesjavellir on 17 March, hiking across bubbling mud pools and hot springs and climbing an active volcanic mountain to reach peaks of 805m, before completing at Thingvellir National Park on 19 March. Let’s not forget the heavy backpacks and freezing cold temperatures - bit different to the 40 degree heat of Morocco!
The cost of the trip (£1,495) will be made up of a mixture of personal sales and paid work of my own accord which means 100% of your donations will go directly to Prospect Hospice to support patients and their families through the devastating end-of-life period.
This particular challenge is very special to me because it’s a trip Harry hoped for us to take together. Although I’m so sad it didn’t happen that way, I feel extremely blessed to get to do it for him alongside his Dad, my Mum and one of my best friends. I know he will be with us every step of the way, beaming with pride.
Anyone who knows our family will know how highly we regard Prospect Hospice and its extraordinary staff. Although we hope to never need their service, the sad reality is we all know at least one person who has/will. I cannot express how desperately we needed them by our side through Harry’s illness and how brilliantly they delivered. I truly dread to think how things might’ve been without them. They are earthly angels.
Prospect Hospice went above and beyond for Harry and our family, supporting with physiotherapy, home accessibility equipment and adaptations, dreaded paperwork, 24/7 phone line with on call doctors and nurses, prescriptions, medication administration training as well as emotional support for Harry, myself and other members of our family which has carried on to this day.
Please support if you can! Whether a few kind words of encouragement or a few pennies from payday - it is all so appreciated. Thank you.
