Story
In 2017, Carli Lansley sadly passed away in her sleep, leaving a husband and 2 young children aged 11 and 7. The cause was an undiagnosed heart condition.
From such devastation came the Carli Lansley Foundation, set-up by Carli’s husband to create something incredibly positive. Initially co-funding public de-fibrillator machines across Southend, the charity now provides heart screening for anyone aged 15-35, plus organises free-of-charge CPR and- importantly- de-fib machine training for anyone who wants it.
The work of this charity is literally life-changing. To date, they have screened just over 2000 people with 99 forwarded on for further medical tests. Let’s put that in-perspective- that’s 1-in-20 of us tested.
The charity is solely run on donations and I wondered if you can help me support their work. I'm trying to raise £1,200, the cost to screen 20 people.
To push myself (and it seems, my Wife’s patience), I’ve signed up for an Ironman 70.3 in June in Holland. The 70.3 is the total mileage- 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile ride, 13.1 mile run. Prep to date has been a little intense:
- Feb 24 London Winter Run (46.25 mins)- hangovers and running don’t mix
- Mar 24 London Landmarks Half Marathon (1.38.29)
- Apr 24 Brentwood Half Marathon (1.38.41)
- May 24 Burghley Olympic Triathlon (0.9 mile swim, 24.8 mile ride, 6.2 mile run) (2.43.58)
- June 24 Southend Half Marathon (1.40.33)
I’ll start sharing training updates on Instagram and Linkedin over the coming weeks. I know times remain tough, but if you can spare a few pounds to support the charity and know you are directly contributing to my pain, it would be hugely appreciated.
Thank you as always for reading this and any support you’re able to give. Together we can make a difference.
